You might not be a professional landscaper, but your goal is to have the best looking property on the block. With the right lawn care services and knowledge of what not to do, this goal is easily feasible. Here’s what you need to avoid doing:
Overpacking Your Garden
A garden with too much going on can be a nightmare to maintain, look at, and it can even inhibit the growth of some plants. Avoid planting too many rows of plants, flowers, and trees. You want to give each plant enough room to grow, breathe, and not get tangled up with a neighboring plant. Think about your garden from last season and make adjustments for more or less depending on how much space was available. This also goes for trees, bushes, and shrubbery when you plant them in a row.
Not Taking Into Account Sunlight
Some plants need constant and direct sunlight, while others don’t need as much. Placing plants where you think they look best isn’t the only thing you should keep in mind. Categorize all of the plants you plan to use based on how much sunlight they require, then map out the best areas for these plants on your property. Failing to do this could leave you with withered plants that won’t make it halfway through the summer due to a lack of adequate sunlight.
Watering Too Frequently
Every plant and type of grass will need to be watered at different frequencies. It’s important to do your research and create a watering plan for the specific types of plants and grass you currently have on your landscape. Watering your greenery properly is important for healthy root growth, as too shallow of roots can cause the plants to dry out more easily. While you will have to water your garden by hand, you can use a sprinkler system to set a customized schedule for your lawn.
Maintaining your landscape is a constant project throughout the spring and summer, but it’s easy to do as long as you avoid these common mistakes.
