The time has finally come for you to get your hands dirty and begin preparation for this year’s vegetable garden! In order for you to reap the most of what you sow, you need to have your strategy and all of your tools ready to go.
Pot Preparation
If you’re the type of gardener to plant your vegetables and herbs in planter pots instead of in the ground, then you’ll need to get them ready. Make sure you wash and scrub each one with hot, soapy water. There could be harmful bacteria from last season on them that could cause this season’s crop to die before any veggies are fully grown. If any of your pots are broken or cracked, give them a toss in the trash and get yourself some new ones.
Organize Your Seeds
Whether you have a lot of seeds from last year or you just stopped at the nursery, make sure they’re organized and ready to plant. You don’t want to open up your storage container to find a mess of seeds and envelopes scattered throughout. Once everything is categorized, plan out which planters will receive what seed, or which area of the garden will be designated for certain seeds.
Sparkling Glass
For those who use a greenhouse or glass structure to house their plants, make sure the glass is as clean as can be. The cleaner the glass, the more efficient the structure will be. Cloudy windows filled with dirt and plant growth can limit the amount of sunshine the plants receive. Carefully wash and scrub the glass with soapy water and a sponge (be wary of using a hose with high pressure).
Growing your own vegetables is equally rewarding as it is delicious, so make sure you prepared for this year’s crop.
